ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE IN THE NEW REGIME
President-elect Trump’s environmental team is working on these proposals:
Withdrawing the US from the Paris climate agreement
Eliminating every federal office working to end pollution from the burning of fossil fuels
Shrinking the size of national monuments in the West to allow more drilling and mining on public lands
Revoking a waiver that allows California and other states to set tighter pollution standards than the federal government
This is just a sampling of measures we will see under the new administration. Lawsuits may ensue, but it will be difficult to defeat many aspects of the new plan for the environment.
